HOWARD A. JOHNSON, CIMA, CFP, ChFC, CLU

Private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc
Howard A. Johnson received his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation from the Wharton School of Business. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). Howard manages over $400 million of investments assets for individuals, trusts and charitable entities, and provides his clients with personalized retirement and estate planning.
He has worked in the financial services industry since 1975. Prior to forming his planning practice in 1991, Howard performed analysis and acquisition of investment grade real estate for national property investors and developers. His practice, located in Bellevue, Washington, is a private wealth advisory firm of Ameriprise Financial, Inc. He was named to the Ameriprise Chairman’s Advisory Council from 2008 – 2014 and was inducted into the Ameriprise Hall of Fame in 2014.
Howard is an active donor and volunteer for many local charities. He enjoys contributing on a professional level as a member of:

He works closely with non-profit organizations and their donors and enjoys the opportunity to teach and encourage planned giving.
About the Award
In 2012, the Washington Planned Giving Council established the Frank Minton Professional Achievement Award, to recognize those who have demonstrated an outstanding career of service, dedication, and leadership in Charitable Gift Planning.
The award is intended to honor gift planners in nonprofit organizations, and allied professionals who, among other qualities:
Exemplify the highest standards of the profession;
Demonstrate the qualities of integrity, ethics, empathy and knowledge with donors, and;
Exhibit leadership, collaboration, mentoring and sharing of knowledge with peers.
Nominations are requested from WPGC members. Prior to each annual Planned Giving Day Conference, a Board selected nomination committee reviews the submissions, and selects the awardee.

Frank Minton
Dr. Frank Minton was the first recipient of the Washington Planned Giving Council's Professional Achievement Award in 2012. In 2013 the award was renamed the Frank Minton Professional Achievement Award to celebrate his life's work that embodies the qualities of integrity, ethics, and empathy. These foundational values have guided Dr. Minton and are considered paramount by the Washington Planned Giving Council in order to help donors fulfill their legacy wishes.
Before starting his consulting career in 1991, Frank was a leader in planned giving and development at the University of Washington and, prior to that, at Northwestern University. He founded the consulting firm Planned Giving Services, which later was acquired by PG Calc. Dr. Minton has served as conference chair and president of the National Committee on Planned Giving, and served on its Ethics Committee. He was Vice Chair of the American Council on Gift Annuities, chaired the Gift Annuity Rates Committee, and is an expert on state regulatory issues. He has also received distinguished service awards from the National Committee on Planned Giving, CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education), the Planned Giving Group of New England, the Planned Giving Council of Chicago, and he was the first recipient of the Outstanding Development Officer Award from the Northwest Development Officers Association.
